Plum Niacinamide Sunscreen Review

Last updated on 9 October, 2024

When Plum launched the Niacinamide Sunscreen I checked the ingredients list and found out that it’s an oil free sunscreen. So, I thought of trying it. Initially I didn’t like the sunscreen texture and the performance. However as I kept on using it till I finished the tube I noticed some amazing effects on my skin. I am pretty happy with my purchase so let’s check out Plum Niacinamide Sunscreen Review.

Packaging, Texture and Fragrance

The packaging of the sunscreen is tube with an airless pump. It has an extra cap to protect the nozzle. The airless pump packaging is something which I really love because unlike other tubes it is easy to dispense and sucks out every bit of sunscreen. The tube is sturdy and travel friendly. The texture of the sunscreen is kind of sticky lotion, but isn’t much runny. The sunscreen is white in colour. The consistency feels perfect without being too runny or too thick. The sunscreen is moisturizing, hydrating and little sticky in texture. The sunscreen has no significant fragrance and is a result of formulation I feel.

My experience with Plum Niacinamide Sunscreen

It is a hybrid sunscreen with chemical as well as physical sunscreen agents  Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Benzophenone-3 and Titanium Dioxide.

I refrain from using a hyaluronic acid based serum before using this sunscreen. However, I do use oil free moisturizer before using this sunscreen and it works just fine with or without moisturizer. Ever since I have started using this sunscreen I have not faced any breakouts or acne or clogged pores.

This product is hydrating but it does give a dewy, sticky finish. The sticky and dewy finish settles down after 30 minutes. Personally I feel this is good since we must use sunscreen at least 20 minutes before heading out in the sun. The product is gel cream in consistency and takes time to blend into the skin. When using the three-finger technique, it feels heavy and leaves a significant sticky feeling for my oily acne-prone skin. So I use two-finger technique while using this sunscreen. The sunscreen gives a little white cast and will not be suitable for people who have a deeper skin tone.

After I started using Plum Niacinamide Sunscreen I have noticed that the pigmentation around my lips has reduced considerably and the sunscreen gives a glass skin kind of effect with regular use. The sunscreen doesn’t irritate the eye area at all. I have used it on my upper eyelids too and there is no irritation whatsoever! It doesn’t even make my eyes water if I go out in the sun. Moreover the packaging is airless and it sucks out every bit of the sunscreen. It doesn’t have the hassle of cutting the flip top tube wherein more than 1/4th sunscreen sticks to the tube of the sunscreen.

Finally speaking about the hot afternoons, this sunscreen isn’t sweat proof or waterproof. So you need to reapply the sunscreen whenever you sweat or come in contact with water. I experience sweating sometimes immediately after applying if I am at home. I personally feel this sunscreen is apt for monsoons and winters since it’s not sweat proof and water proof.

The reapplication part of the sunscreen can be tricky due to the dewy and sticky finish it gives. One can wash off the previous sunscreen and use it again or just reapply on previously applied sunscreen. It may feel heavy after reapplication. The sunscreen is easily to remove using an oil based cleanser or a good foaming cleanser.

Plum Niacinamide Sunscreen Review

It is a moisturizing, oil-free, hybrid sunscreen that provides broad-spectrum protection of SPF 50+ PA+++. The blending of the sunscreen takes time and might give white cast for deeper skin tones. It gives a moisturizing effect with a dewy finish owing to its hydrating formulation. Moreover, it doesn’t clog pores or cause any acne for my oily and acne-prone skin. It is apt to use this one on a regular basis especially in monsoons and winters since it’s not much sweat proof or waterproof. Do give it a try if you are looking for a budget friendly sunscreen that gives glass skin effect. I already have repurchased this sunscreen and love the affordable price and the efficacy of it.
