Plum Review | Plum Products Review

Plum Goodness Brand is India’s 1st 100% vegan beauty brand that was founded in 2014. The brand had launched Hello Aloe Moisturizer first followed by their Green Tea Toner and Green Tea face wash. I remember receiving both the Green Tea based products for review purpose. I think Plum was one of those few brands that started making glycolic acid based products which was otherwise found only in drugstore based products. With their ever increasing SKUs I have a minimum of three of their products in my routine any given time. Let’s see a short review of the products I have used and the one I would gladly repurchase.

Cleansers

Plum Green Tea Face Wash

This is the OG face wash, which I received as a PR and I never stopped buying. I keep on going back to it and always have it in my routine. It works good as a standalone cleanser as well as second cleanser in double cleansing.

Plum 1% Encapsulated Salicylic Acid Foaming Face Wash

Plum Face Wash performs the job of exfoliating the skin perfectly without irritating it. It not only helps in clearing up the skin but also keeps it fresh and glowing. If you have oily, acne prone skin, I would highly recommend you to try out this face wash at least once. People who face mild acne problems can definitely give this a try. The face wash doesn’t prevent any hormonal breakouts but tames away the ones caused by clogged pores definitely are reduced.

Plum Saffron & Papaya Glow Bright Face Wash With Vitamin B5

I thought of picking it up as a morning cleanser but sadly it didn’t work for my skin and I used to get small zits everytime I use it. I quickly used it as a body wash instead of wasting time for my skin to adjust to it.

Plum Turmeric & White Clay Acne Action Face Wash

This one I use in peak summers when my skin needs a thorough cleanse. It works good for oily, acne prone skin but can’t be used daily.

Plum Hemp Cleansing Oil With Squalane & Bisabolol

This product just didn’t work for me and gives me small zits every time I use it. Light weight consistency, easily emulsifies, no need of second cleanse, affordable price even with more quantity, easy availability is something which people look out for in a cleansing oil. Plum cleansing oil may work for other skin types but if you have oily, acne prone skin think twice before using this cleansing oil.

Plum Chamomile & White Tea Revival Face Wash

Again this face wash I picked up for morning use but was disappointed as I have oily skin. I used to get zits at random places everytime I used the face wash.

Plum Green Tea Face Mask

I have lost count of the number of tubs I have used of this mask. It’s my all time favourite face mask for instant brightening effect. I have stopped buying it since I mostly used gel based moisturizers now and hardly get any acne.

Moisturizers

Plum Green Tea Mattifying Moisturizer

This moisturizer was a bummer for me since I used to breakout everytime I used it. So I just never repurchased it and switched to the oil free version.

Plum Green Tea Oil free Moisturizer

I used this one a lot during COVID and afterwards as well. It was working good for me but then I found that gel moisturizers work better than gel cream for me and so I stopped using this one.

Plum Niacinamide & Rice Water Gel Cream

I picked it up when my blogger buddy raved about this gel moisturizer. I emptied one tub and noticed a slight brightening effect. I feel this is less hydrating than the hyaluronic acid gel cream. I will be not repurchasing this one.

Plum Bulgarian Rose and 1% Hyaluronic Acid Gel Cream

I am currently using this gel moisturizer and I love it. It has light fragrance, gel texture and has hyaluronic acid for hydrating the skin. I like this one even more than the rice gel moisturizer.

Plum Vitamin C Eye Cream Review

Plum Vitamin C Eye Cream

If you are looking for a good eye cream for dark circles then this is the one. I like using this eye cream for the instant brightening effect it gives to the under eyes. The gel cream texture, no fragrance, rapidly absorbing consistency and actual brightening and skin tightening effect makes it a one of the good eye creams available for dark circles. The brand has mentioned the percentage of all the active ingredients of the eye cream such as Vitamin C, peptides and caffeine. Please use it during the night time, and during the day time apply a sunscreen on top of it. Kindly patch test before use.

Sunscreens

Plum Squalane & Vitamin E SPF 50 PA+++ Sunscreen

This is an oil-free, chemical sunscreen with new generation UV filters and offers broad-spectrum protection of SPF 50+ PA+++. It doesn’t give a hydrating bit will give a kind of mattifying effect. The texture is thick but blends easily and feels feather light on the skin. Moreover, it doesn’t clog pores or cause any acne for my oily and acne-prone skin. It doesn’t irritate the eyes and can be easily removed with or without any oil-based cleanser. I would say a sunscreen with new generation UV filters at this price point would be worth trying out.

Plum Green Tea & Zinc Super-Matte Sunscreen Gel

This is the latest addition to their sunscreen range and I like the gel yet moisturizing effect of this one. It’s not sweat proof and water proof so I am not going to use this one during the peak summers.

Plum Niacinamide & Rice Water SPF 50 PA+++ Hybrid Sunscreen

Moisturizing, oil-free, hybrid sunscreen that gives glass skin effects with prolonged use. The blending of the sunscreen takes time and might give white cast for deeper skin tones. It didn’t clog pores or cause any acne for my oily and acne-prone skin. It is apt to use this one on a regular basis especially in monsoons and winters since it’s not much sweat proof or waterproof. Do give it a try if you are looking for a budget friendly sunscreen that gives glass skin effect.

Serums

Plum 15% Vitamin C Serum For Face With Mandarin

Plum Vitamin C Serum can be considered as the best vitamin C serum in India for all skin types. It brightens up the skin, exfoliates the whiteheads, considerably reduces acne marks as well as pigmentation. The texture is good for layering up your skincare products. I didn’t have any high expectations from the serum but it has definitely surprised me with the efficiency and results. I am happy to say that I will keep coming back to this vitamin C serum.

Plum 2% Encapsulated Salicylic Acid Serum For Face

The serum is gentle on skin and works slowly yet steadily on reducing the acne. It considerably reduces the appearance of pores. However for whiteheads and blackheads it works good in Fiddy Snail’s Deep Pore Cleansing method. I would say this salicylic acid serum can be easily used on alternate days provided you don’t have any other actives in your skincare routine.

Body Care

Plum Vanilla Vibes Body Butter by Plum BodyLovin’

The body butter is non greasy and non oily and at the same time hydrating and moisturising for dry skin especially during the winters. I had used it long time back and didn’t purchase again.

Plum Hawaiian Rumba Shower Gel by Plum BodyLovin’

The shower gel is amazing, foams up nicely and cleanses the skin nicely without a residue. A little goes a long way in case of this shower gel and you will ultimately be bored of using this.

Haircare

Plum Coconut Milk & Peptides Shampoo

This is a SLES based shampoo that cleanses nicely without leaving the hair dry. It is not colour safe shampoo so take due care to use if you have coloured your hair. It reduces the dandruff as well.

Plum Coconut & Squalane Nutri-Shine Hair Serum

This was a bummer for my hair as it weighed down them and feels just like a scented coconut oil in fancy bottle. The bottle isn’t sturdy as well just like the cleansing oil bottle.

Plum Rosemary & 3% Redensyl Hair Growth Serum

My current favourite hair growth serum that I have been using since 5 months I think. I have emptied some 4 bottles and it reduces hairfall and promotes faster hair growth. It isn’t water based and doens’t cause dandruff.

Hope you like these short reviews and find them helpful.
