Plum Cleansing Oil Review

When Plum launched the cleansing oil, I was excited to try it out. I waited for some reviews and still was intrigued to try out the product since Plum is one of my favourite brands. However the cleansing oil doesn’t work well for me and the packaging is also not up to the mark. Let us check Plum Cleansing Oil Review

Packaging, Texture and Fragrance

The cleansing oil is packed in a plastic bottle with a plastic nozzle. The pump packaging works good and dispenser works well. The texture of cleansing oil is very light weight and literally feels like water. It is very runny in consistency and has clear, transparent appearance. The product has some kind of plastic fragrance that might be due to the formulation I think because the product is fragrance free. The packaging is a bummer and my outer cap was broken when I purchased it. The bottle may leak since mine leaks if kept in horizontal position. Due to the leaking cleansing oil the label of my bottle is coming off.

Price, Shelf life and Availability

525 INR for 75ml with a shelf life of 24 months from date of manufacturing. Available on Plum website, Nykaa and Amazon.

Plum Cleansing Oil Review

My experience with Plum Cleansing Oil

I mostly follow double cleansing whenever I use a silicone based sunscreen or BB cream and an eyeliner. Being light weight in texture, Plum cleansing oil spreads easily across the skin. When you dispense the oil on palms take care since it drips easily from the palms due to runny consistency. The oil is easy to work upon and glides beautifully on the skin even with a light hand.

I usually take 3-4 pumps per use for face and neck. If I massage little oil on the face, it just gets absorbed into the skin instantly. So whenever you use this product, make sure to use little extra quantity since the oil readily absorbs into the skin.

The oil emulsifies well with water be it lukewarm or normal water. It turns milky immediately on contact with water and rinses well. Upon washing off the oil, I can’t feel any oily residue behind. I like how it reduces whiteheads with regular use.

But it does give me zits in random places every time I use it. Since my skin is very acne prone and I easily suffer from clogged pores, currently am using it only on my neck to just finish the product. I suspect the ingredient that maybe causing the problem is Isopropyl Myristate. Initially I used to follow up with a foaming cleanser only to face dehydrated skin. Recently I stopped using a second cleanse and the product works good for me.

People who use high to medium coverage makeup might find the need to follow up with a second cleanse. I use the cleansing oil to mainly remove sunscreen and it does this job very well. Once emulsified, if it enters the eyes it makes the eyes uncomfortable but doesn’t sting at all. People who use eye make-up might find how easy it to work upon the eye area due to light weight texture.

Plum Cleansing Oil Review

I wish I could say Plum Cleansing Oil is one of the best cleansing oil in India. This product just didn’t work for me and gives me small zits every time I use it. Light weight consistency, easily emulsifies, no need of second cleanse, affordable price even with more quantity, easy availability is something which people look out for in a cleansing oil. Plum cleansing oil may work for other skin types but if you have oily, acne prone skin think twice before using this cleansing oil.
