Plum Green Tea Face Wash review

Packaging, Texture and Fragrance

The product is housed in the signature Plum Green Tea range packaging. The white squeezable tube is plastic and has a flip cap too. Packaging is basic, sturdy and travel friendly. The face wash has a gel consistency that is transparent with small, green cellulose beads. The beads are meant for exfoliation action although they hardly help in. Plum Green tea face wash has a pleasant fragrance which is common for all the products of this range. It lathers up easily and we need just a pea sized amount to remove sunscreen or evening routine.

My experience with Plum Green Tea Face Wash

The face wash has a nice refreshing fragrance which doesn’t bother me at all. The entire range has similar fragrance and am used to it. However, the fragrance seems to have been reduced, am unsure whether the brand has reduced the amount of fragrance or simply am used to it. The face wash foams a lot and you need a little amount each time. It gets washed off easily without leaving any residue. The fresh fragrance reminds me of Oriflame Tea Tree face wash.

I often use this face wash as a part of my evening skincare routine. Sometimes I even use it as as a morning cleanser. The face wash contains Glycolic Acid and Green Tea extracts. However, speaking of the chemical exfoliation due to glycolic acid, it literally offers none. The face wash also has cellulose beads to act as a physical scrub, but the beads are not much in density and hardly offer any exfoliating. Unlike Ahaglow Face Wash, this face wash doesn’t exfoliate the skin with the glycolic acid in it.

Plum Green Tea Face Wash review

Considering the above points, you must treat this face wash as any normal face wash and you can add it in your double cleansing routine, AM routine, PM routine or even for removing sunscreen. This face wash is a gentle one which performs the job of cleansing the skin while removing the dirt and grime.

Whenever I use this face wash regularly, I hardly see any breakouts on my face. Small zits or cystic acne I never face them whenever the Plum Green Tea face wash is a part of my routine. I have experienced this everytime I repurchase the face wash. One study has found out that Green Tea can effectively reduce sebum secretion and prevent acne.

The face wash is free from SLS but not SLES. SLES is a milder version of sulphate than SLS. So if your skin can’t tolerate SLES then you may skip the face. Although the face wash cleanses the skin gently and will be suitable for all skin types.

Pros

  • Small quantity is enough for whole face
  • Contains glycolic acid, although doesn’t provide much exfoliation
  • Antioxidant rich green tea reduces the chances of breakouts
  • Can fit into double cleansing routine, AM routine or PM routine as well.
  • Lathers quite well (even in hard water) and gets rinsed off easily
  • Doesn’t dry out the skin unless used excessively
  • Refreshing fragrance which is not too strong
  • Travel friendly packaging
  • Value for money product
  • Will suit all skin types especially oily skin
  • Often found at discount

Cons

  • Contains SLES (not SLS)
  • Quantity offered according to price is less
  • Beads are of no particular use for scrubbing

Summing Up

I would totally recommend the Plum Green Tea face wash for regular use. I found the cleansing action good, fragrance refreshing and efficacy nice, for my oily acne prone skin. Regular use of the face wash reduces my acne and I experience fewer breakouts whenever it is a part of my routine. Inspite of having glycolic acid, the face wash doesn’t dry out the skin at all. Additionally, it can easily fit into your double cleansing routine or PM routine or AM routine. I would suggest you to try it out once if you have oily, acne prone skin. Although I don’t like the beads in the face wash, they are totally useless.
