Vegan Cleansing Balm Recipe

Today am sharing an easy DIY Cleansing Balm (my first vegan beauty product) recipe. I have personally tried the cleansing balm formulation and have been using this balm. I like to try cleansing balm DIYs since most of the balms available are costly and I am into regular double cleansing these days. The recipe is simple and I have used easily available ingredients which you can get online. So let’s hop on to the recipe of the DIY Neem Balm

cleansing balm formulation

Ingredients

  • Shea butter 58 gms
  • Jojoba oil 31 gms
  • Neem oil 8 gms
  • Soya wax 3 gms

Procedure
1) Take  a double boiler
2) After weighing all the ingredients put them in a glass bowl or jar.
3) Once all the ingredients melt, stir them using a glass pippet or a tooth pick.
4) Pour in to the jar or container from which you will be using them. I have used tin jar which holds 25 gms of balm and with this recipe I made 4 balms (25 gms each)
5) Refrigerate after cooling down

Instructions for usage

  • Scoop out a dime sized of cleansing balm with wooden spoon
  • Rub it between your palm so that it melts the balm
  • Massage the balm on your skin, using small circular motions
  • Carefully massage over the eye area as well
  • Wet muslin washcloth/cotton pads/crochet pads with warm to hot water
  • Use the  muslin washcloth/cotton pads/crochet pads to gently wipe away oil from face, be extra careful around the eye area
  • Repeat until most of the oil is removed
  • Once done, wash your face with foaming face wash

Cleansing balms are mostly used at night, after having a day out in the pollution or to remove makeup. You can also use this balm during the day since I haven’t used any essential oils. You can use the balm as an all purpose salve for dry elbows, knees or dry hands. It can also be used to soften dry and cracked heels

Ingredient Focus

  • Shea butter – the best butter to suit all skin types. It also moisturizes the skin and make it smooth and even toned.
  • Jojoba oil – Jojoba oil is the only carrier oil which closely relates to the human skin sebum. It is extremely non sticky and non  greasy. I have used Urvi Naturals Jojoba Oil
  • Neem oil – I have used neem oil for its antibacterial properties. Also neem oil is very thick in consistency so I have kept the quantity less in the overall balm quantity. Also it doesn’t smell that great so, you can add any essential oil of your choice to mask the fragrance of neem oil. I have used Urvi Naturals Neem Oil
  • Soya Wax- I wanted to make this recipe vegan so i used soya wax. if you don’t have soya wax you can used bees wax instead (recipe won’t be vegan if you add beeswax).

Do try out the recipe and let me know if you have any queries.
