Traditional oil cleansing is done with pure oils and a washcloth dampened with warm water. Some people who ardently follow a K-beauty regimen, also follow their oil cleanse with a gentle face wash to remove any oil residue.

Why to use a cleansing oil?

  1. It lifts excess sebum
  2. Cleanse out clogged pores
  3. Reduce blackheads and whiteheads
  4. Remove dead skin, pollutants, sunscreen and makeup

Makeup removers or cleansing balms or cleansing oils are often formulated with oils because of their ability to lift oil-based and waterproof formulas. Today we will be checking only the best cleansing oils available in India. Many people who don’t like thick balm consistency for oil cleansing often use cleansing oils.

How to use a cleansing oil?

  1. Apply the oil to your dry face. Use the fingertips to gently massage the oil into the skin for a minute or two to remove impurities like makeup and dead skin cells, and let it penetrate the skin.
  2. Use a damp, warm washcloth to gently wipe away the oil. Be careful not to put much pressure. A soft washcloth is good. You can also rinse with warm water if you want some of the oil to stay on your skin.
  3. Pat dry with a towel and apply moisturizer if you feel the need.
  4. There are two ways to use a cleansing oil. One involves removing the applied oil with warm water or a wet washcloth. However in K-beauty what follows is oil removal with a gentle cleanser to remove any leftover oily residue.

K-beauty double cleanse

  1. If you’re prone to acne or oily skin Follow the first three steps above for a basic oil cleanse.
  2. Wash with a mild face wash that won’t strip your skin of its new hydration
  3. Pat dry with a towel and apply moisturizer if you feel you need it.

Before you try any oil cleansing method, test the cleansing oil on a small patch of your skin for a couple of days to see how your skin reacts.

How to choose a cleansing oil?

Now that so many K-beauty brands as well as Indian brands have added a cleansing oil to their line, it is difficult to decide on which one to go for. This list will help you choose a well formulated cleansing oil for your skin type. Most cleansing oils these days turn into milky consistency when they come in contact with water which is called as emulsifying the oil. If the oil which you are using doesn’t emulsify with water, you may remove it with a washcloth dipped in lukewarm water.
