Juicy Chemistry Pre-Biotic Barrier Repair Serum Review

With the use of chemical exfoliators, maintaining a healthy skin barrier has become a necessity. Ceramides are not the only ingredients that help with barrier maintenance or barrier repair. There are other ingredients like Gotu Kola and Pichia Mushroom that help with a healthy microbiome and promote a healthy skin barrier. Let us walk you through one such product which is Juicy Chemistry Pre-Biotic Barrier Repair Serum.

One must break open one ampoule using the plastic cap provided and use the serum all over your face and neck. In case the serum remains you can close the ampoule with another plastic cap supplied with the kit. The serum texture is water-like and feels just like water being applied to the skin. It doesn’t feel sticky or uncomfortable post application even if you apply it in excess. The product has no fragrance at all.

My experience with Juicy Chemistry Pre-Biotic Barrier Repair Serum

The serum is easily absorbed into the skin without any sticky or residue feel. The skin feels plump immediately after application and I usually follow it up with an oil free moisturizer in my PM routine. This serum is a part of my PM routine and I especially like to use it post chemical exfoliation.

Additionally, it is advised to use this serum on damp skin since it has Hyaluronic acid. Since Hyaluronic acid is a humectant, it not only prevents moisture loss but also helps improve skin elasticity by boosting moisture and hydration. I have noticed plump skin and soft skin after using this serum.

As mentioned above, we should break open one ampoule at a time and use the serum. I haven’t used this serum regularly for 7 days. Still, I have used it twice per week, once after following chemical exfoliation which is usually once a week and the next time in between mid-week as a maintenance serum for the skin barrier.

Whenever I use a chemical exfoliator, after a few days the skin near my nose stings sometimes. I have taken many precautions regarding the same and still, the skin stings. After I started using Juicy Chemistry serum I noticed that the stinging has reduced in intensity as well as frequency. The serum has indeed helped the skin near my nose heal and recover with each chemical exfoliation and sun exposure.

As for the packaging, breaking an ampoule feels jittery to me as I fear breaking the glass on purpose. I wish the product is available in a dropper bottle as the hassle of breaking the ampoule and storing the excess serum would be feasible in that case. I will also have to figure out how to send this product for recycling. Overall speaking my experience has been satisfactory in terms of barrier repair and hydrating effects of the serum. The packaging may be feasible for some people and may seem a hassle for others since we need to break the ampoule for each use.

Juicy Chemistry Pre-Biotic Barrier Repair Serum Review

I do feel that sometimes using a ceramide based product immediately after chemical exfoliation just defeats the purpose of chemical exfoliation for oily skin since the product may settle into the pores. In that case, this Juicy Chemistry barrier repair serum is a good option without being heavy on the skin. This serum can be considered as a 3-in-1 product that has prebiotics, is hydrating as well as helps with skin barrier repair. You can give it a try as a multi-tasking product in your skincare routine. However, kindly take due care with the packaging as well as storing the excess product after use.
