Hydration Star : TonyMoly Watermelon Soothing Gel Cream

I finally decided to give Korean moisturizers a try and here I am with my first ever review of the same. I picked up TonyMoly Watermelon gel cream simply by checking the ingredients’ list and a few blog posts.

TonyMoly Watermelon Soothing Gel Cream

TonyMoly Watermelon Soothing Gel Cream Review

The watermelon gel cream has a bouncy, gel cream consistency with melt in skin texture. It has a rich watermelon aroma because it has 50% watermelon extract which is very good for skin hydration. The fragrance fades off soon after applying and doesn’t feel strong. As soon as you apply it to the skin, it turns watery. It takes a little efforts to blend it into the skin. The product is a squeeze up tube, the flip cap tube is green and the colour is red at the end of the tube similar to the watermelon as we go from outside to inside.

It gives hydrating and soothing effect for oily to combination skin types. Skin feels soft, slightly bouncy and well hydrated. Unlike other moisturizers which feel like sitting on the skin when you wash the face in morning, this one doesn’t leave any residue on the skin at all. This is best suited for oily, combination skin people like me. I did not notice any increase in whiteheads or oily skin on Tzone while using it.

Along with the beautiful pros of the gel cream, it does come with some drawbacks. Due to the hydrating effect this moisturizer makes you sweat in summers if you are into layering of skincare. If you still want to include it in your routine, use it as a sleeping mask in PM routine.

At the end of the day, if you don’t wash your face, you might feel that it is slightly sticky. This is my observation whenever I skip doing my PM skincare. Since watermelon juice is sticky, I feel it’s the 50% watermelon juice extract which causes this. Again, I am just assuming, it might as well be just my skin tantrum. Apart from hydrated skin I didn’t notice any difference in my skin’s glow.
