Finding a lightweight ceramide moisturizer for oily skin is like a dream come true. With regular use of chemical exfoliation one must include your oily skin. I received the Dot and Key Cica Night gel as a part of the Nykaa pink box. It has definitely taken me aback with its light texture and super hydration. Let’s check the review of it.

Packaging, Texture and Fragrance
The Cica night gel is housed in a glass jar with a plastic lid and an inner lid to prevent leakage. Glass may seem heavy according to usage and travel purpose however I find it too cute. Also the new packaging has an airless pump. The product has a gel texture that is a little dense and has a faint green colour. The fragrance of the moisturizer is a mix of tea tree and peppermint, since it has both of these essential oils in it. I absolutely love the fragrance, it isn’t bothering to the nose yet feels refreshing and lingers for sometime post application. The night gel has a gel cream consistency and watery texture.
My experience with Dot & Key Cica Niacinamide Night Gel
Upon immediate application it gives a soothing, cooling effect and moisturization. However if you apply it in excess quantity you may feel like you have applied a layer of aloe gel mixed with some face oil. The product is silicone based and provides sufficient hydration to the skin.
The moisturizer is denser in texture than probiotic moisturizer from Dot and Key. I can clearly feel the difference in both the moisturizers. I was surprised to see that this product has ceramides in it. In addition to that, it has tea tree essential oil as well to tame away the acne. For those who are looking for a gel based ceramide moisturizer then this is it. You will not have to look for any further moisturizer as this is a two in one night gel plus ceramide moisturizer.
Oily skinned beauties cannot apply the product in excess due to the texture and the ingredients in it. This product will last you really long if you use it once daily. It does calm down the skin and provides a hydrating and moisturizing effect. However with regular use of this gel your skin may experience an increase in whiteheads due to ceramides and oils in the formulation.
Pros
- Lightweight, quick-absorbing gel moisturizer
- Makes the skin plump, hydrated
- Cica and Niacinamide infused formula that calms inflammation and redness
- Gel Moisturizer fortified with Cermaides, Tea tree essential oil
- Spreads easily on skin making it easy to apply
- Requires a very little amount per application so the product lasts longer
- Value for money product
- Strengthens skin’s barrier to retain moisture
- Has faint tea tree cum peppermint fragrance that doesn’t linger much
Cons
- Feels greasy or heavy even when applied in excess
- Dry skinned beauties will need an extra layer of moisturiser
- Contains silicone (some might not like it, however here it works as an occlusive)
- May increase the appearance of whiteheads when used day and night
Dot and Key CICA Niacinamide Night Gel Review
Contrary to the Cica Niacinamide tag of the moisturizer, this works nice as a light weight gel based ceramide moisturizer. Dot and Key Cica Niacinamide Night Gel also contains tea tree essential oil that may be helpful in taming away mild acne. I like using Dot and Key Cica Niacinamide Night Gel as it hydrates the skin. I would however suggest to use this moisturiser occasionally (not daily) for combination and oily skin types. Dry skin and normal skin will need an extra layer of moisturiser.
