Packaging, Texture and Fragrance

The sunscreen is packed in a squeeze tube with fully removable cap. The packaging is travel friendly and non spilling. The consistency is that of silicone cream type and thick. Upon applying the sunscreen feels gel kind and spreads easily across the skin. The texture is that of a silicone based sunscreen. Nonetheless I love the texture for my oily, acne prone skin. The product has a very faint clinical fragrance to it which isn’t even noticable while applying.

Derma Co Ultra Matte Sunscreen Gel Review

My experience with Derma Co Ultra Matte Sunscreen Gel

The sunscreen has an oil free formulation and is silicone based. Such sunscreens work amazing for my oily, acne prone skin. The sunscreen spreads easily across the skin and blends into the skin with minimum efforts. The blending is easy when you apply it in just one direction instead of rubbing in two opposite direction across the face.

The sun protecting agents in the sunscreen are Octyl Methoxycinnamate, Diethylhexyl Butamido Triazone, Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate, Zinc Oxide, Titanium Dioxide, Bemotrizinol. It’s a hybrid sunscreen without any white cast.

After blending, the sunscreen gives a nice, even toned and smooth finish to the skin. It is a little mattifying and acts like a primer. The sunscreen works awesome throughout the day (I don’t reapply my sunscreen) without causing any oiliness and greasiness on the face. I have experienced little sweating on nose area and chin area in hot afternoons with a mask. Otherwise I haven’t experienced any sweating on my face. The sunscreen works good with layering of a hydrating, light weight moisturizer or a serum. Just make sure to wait for the serum or moisturizer to sink into the skin before applying the sunscreen. The sunscreen doesn’t give a white cast once fully blended.

In my opinion, the sunscreen will work good for all skin types. Dry and normal skin beauties can use a hydrating moisturizer or serum before applying the sunscreen. The sunscreen can be easily removed using any oil based cleanser. I think this sunscreen would require double cleansing instead of using a single foaming cleanser. So far with the sunscreen I haven’t faced any acne or pore clogging problem. The sunscreen doesn’t irritate the eye area as such but does make it uncomfortable sometimes. It definitely doesn’t make the eyes water or burn.

I am about to empty the sunscreen and already thinking of getting a back-up for the rest of the summers. Derma Co Ultra Matte Sunscreen Gel SPF 60 PA++++ is usually out of stock often and now I know the reason for it. I love Derma Co Ultra Matte Sunscreen Gel as much as I love IPCA Acne UV gel sunscreen. So if I have to keep on purchasing sunscreens without any choice it has to be these two sunscreens.

Pros

  • Oil free and light weight formulation
  • Hybrid sunscreen with chemical and physical sunscreen agents
  • Blends into the skin very effortlessly
  • Doesn’t give any white cast, oily or greasy feeling
  • Doesn’t irritate the eye area or doesn’t make the eyes water when applied near eyes
  • Works well with or without moisturizer or serum
  • Doesn’t clog pores or give any acne
  • Water resistant and dermatologically tested
  • Contains UVA and UVB filters to provide broad-spectrum protection
  • Suitable for normal and acne prone skin
  • Can be suitable for oily skin without a moisturizer

Cons

  • Some may experience sweating especially in hot afternoon in summers
  • Won’t suit dry skin without a moisturizer
  • Might crumble or pill if rubbed harshly on the skin
  • Requires double cleansing routine for removing

It gives a smooth, primer like matte look with its lightweight formulation. It doesn’t clog pores or cause any acne for my oily and acne prone skin.
