Best Skincare, Haircare Finds of 2021

As the year 2021 comes to an end, let’s wrap this up with the best finds of 2021 for skincare and hair products. I honestly have come a long way in selecting apt products for my oily, acne prone skin. I no longer get tempted to buy anything just because the packaging is luxury, or the texture of the cream is rich or some 50% off discount is being offered by the brand or website.

I have also not accepted some collaboration just for the sake of trying out new products to keep this blog going on. I have even turned down some paid work since my skin can’t test out hundreds of products and I can’t mess up my skin.

Let’s check out the list of products which I truly have enjoyed using. If I have to curate my skincare routine for the rest of my life you will find many products mentioned below in the routine. All products mentioned here are worth purchasing and already on my purchase list.

Best skincare products of 2021

Oil based Cleansers

DHC Cleansing Oil – DHC Cleansing oil was gifted to me by Keeko. It emulsifies well and doesn’t leave any oily residue as such. Although the dispensing part if little tricky and thick consistency makes it hard to work upon eyeliner or eye area.

Suganda Squalane Cleansing Oil – Suganda Squalane Cleansing Oil is literally like water. It is so light weight and runny in consistency that you will feel it’s a serum. Truly one of the best oil cleansers in India by an Indian brand. It is fragrance free, essential oil free which makes it suitable for sensitive skin too.

Cleansers

Ahaglow face wash (standalone) – AHAglow is one of the best drugstore based, exfoliating face washes. It reduces whiteheads with just one use. Whenever I don’t use sunscreen I end up using this one for my PM routine.

Suganda Centella Green Tea Gel (second cleanse or standalone) – a hydrating and soothing cleanser which is very good for dehydrated oily skin. I especially find it useful when I shave my face.

Skincare Villa Matcha Mint Powder to Foam Cleanser (second cleanse or standalone) – I love using this one formulated by myself and like how soft, foaming it is without even a single morsel in it.

Moisturizers

Plum Oil Free Moisturizer – if given a choice to choose one oil free moisturizer, it has to be Plum one. It will work especially in hot, humid weather when the skin sweats and can’t take any moisturizer.

Pure Bubbles Clarity Lotion – this is a recent addition to my skincare routine and it didn’t take too long to become a favourite. The light, lotion consistency is apt for hydrating the oily skin. The moisturizer is also said to be appropriate to include in the routine if you use AHA/BHA/ vitamin C etc.

Earth Rhythm Ceramide Moisturizer – this is a good ceramide based moisturizer extremely suitable for oily, acne prone skin. Since I tend to use Ahaglow face wash and a vitamin C Serum regularly I need to incorporate the moisturizer with ceramides in India.

Vitamin C Serum

Koko Chemistry Vitamin C Serum – Vitamin C Serum is something I rarely experiment with. I have been using Vya Naturals Vitamin C Serum ever since I was introduced to it. So a little experiment with Koko Chemistry Vitamin C Serum has been good when I received it as a PR. It is hydrating and has milky consistency wherein I can skip my moisturizer at night.

Sunscreens

Derma Co 2% Hyaluronic Sunscreen Aqua Gel – the hype around this product is real. I recently incorporated it in my routine and I am pretty impressed. It is affordable, has SPF 50, doesn’t feel heavy even with reapplication so it’s definitely a good one. I won this sunscreen is a giveaway held by @simplyshalini on Instagram.

Bebodywise Sunscreen – another affordable sunscreen which I absolutely like using is Bebodywise sunscreen. It is lotion consistency which allows me to skip my moisturizer, doesn’t sweat much in hot afternoon and is affordable. However the PA rating is missing I think.

Eye Care

Sebamed Eye Cream – I love the Sebamed eye cream for its intense moisturizing effects and can definitely say it’s one of the best under eye creams in India. I have been using it consistently since 6 or more months. I like it’s fragrance and it doesn’t give me any itchy or watery feeling to my eyes. I can’t use any eye cream with EOs, somehow my left eye keeps on watering.

Lip care

Juicy Chemistry Rosehip Lip Balm – one of the best organic lip balm in India has to be from the Juicy Chemistry Rosehip Blood Orange Lip Balm. It heals Dey and chapped lips within 4-5 days and works well as a lip mask too.

Face mask

Derma Co Salicylic Acid Face Maskfinally with this face mask I could replace Plum Green Tea Mask with this one. It effectively reduces whiteheads and smoothens the skin while hydrating it.

Hair Care

Shesha Ayurveda Nilini – I use this one to cover up my greys. Earlier I used to apply heena and indigo for covering my greys. Shesha Ayurveda has done a fabulous job of launching this product which covers grey effectively without any harmful chemicals.

Body Butter

Mother Sparsh Body Butter – Mother Sparsh body butter is very moisturizing yet non greasy. It is very affordable and smells amazing too.

Soaps

Marv Essentials Soaps – I like using handmade soaps and Marv Essentials is one brand which I discovered this year. They also will be launching skincare products and I can’t wait for it.

On an ending note, let’s hope the year 2022 brings in good cheer for everyone on this planet. Here’s wishing good health, prosperity and happiness for everyone. Happy New Year! A big thank you for reading my blog post. Have a great year ahead!!
