Dermafique Soleil Defense All Matte SPF 50 Sunscreen Review

We all are aware of the UV rays which the Sun emits. But a sunscreen that protects from just UV rays may not be enough to tackle the Sun-induced damage and ageing. UV rays account for only 3-5 % of solar light for which most sunscreens offer protection. Whereas the infrared rays comprise almost 45% of the sun’s heat and the remaining is the visible light. We often come across some good sunscreens that offer broad-spectrum protection for UV rays, but very few offer protection from IR rays. The fact that Dermafique Soleil Defense All Matte SPF 50 Sunscreen offers protection from visible light, IR, UVA and UVB, gives it an edge as a good sunscreen for regular use.

Packaging, Texture and Fragrance

The packaging of the sunscreen is a pump up bottle with a transparent cap that fits tightly. The packaging is classy, travel friendly but needs care while handling. The packaging is made up of plastic so it’s light to carry around if you are travelling. The texture of the sunscreen is a little runny and lotion kind. The product is free from fragrance. It has a non-significant, non bothering and non-lingering fragrance. I feel the fragrance is similar to most of the other sunscreens which probably is the formulation smell. The sunscreen is white in colour and leaves a little white cast which settles in sometime.

My experience with Dermafique Soleil Defense All Matte SPF 50 Sunscreen

I tend to skip my moisturizer whenever I use any sunscreen. I neither reapply it nor do I prefer double cleansing while using sunscreen. I have penned down my review according to these conditions so please keep these three things in mind.

The sunscreen has RSF 90, PA++ and SPF 50. It is a hybrid sunscreen that contains both physical and chemical sunscreen ingredients. The fact that this sunscreen is powered by full light technology where full light refers to Visible light, IR, UVA and UVB. Most sunscreens provide protection against UVA and UVB rays whereas Dermafique Soliel Defense provides protection against visible light as well as IR. IR rays can also be emitted by electronic devices. IR rays are said to penetrate even deeper into the skin than UVA and UVB rays. They can cause free radicals damage while accelerating ageing.

The sun protecting agents in the sunscreen are as follows

  • Octocrylene
  • Ethylhexyl Salicylate
  • Disodium Phenyl Dibenzimidazole Tetrasulfonate
  • Methylene Bis-Benzotriazolyl Tetramethylbutylphenol
  • Titanium Dioxide

Coming to the consistency, it is a lotion kind and is absorbed into the skin with a few strokes. It does leave a little white cast which settles in sometime. The lotion consistency actually makes it easy to apply and massage the sunscreen nicely. It is mattifying and doesn’t leave any sticky or greasy feeling after application. The formulation is also fragrance-free which makes it suitable for even sensitive skin, although a patch test is a must.

Dermafique Soleil Defense All Matte SPF 50 Sunscreen

The sunscreen doesn’t sweat or feel oily post-application. I have tested the sunscreen in hot afternoons for grocery shopping by walking with a mask on. I did feel a little uneasiness on my upper lip and nose but I didn’t notice any sweating. My nose has the tendency to sweat a lot in hot weather. I don’t know how this will fare in summers.

I didn’t experience any pore-clogging for oily, acne-prone skin. I have consistently used the sunscreen for 8 days and it didn’t cause me any acne or zits. Even after 4-6 hours of application, the skin doesn’t become oily. I won’t be able to tell how it fares with reapplication and the three-finger rule for sunscreen. The sunscreen isn’t waterproof and that is okay with me.

The best part about the sunscreen is, it is easily washed off with a commercial foaming cleanser and won’t need double cleansing unless you reapply the sunscreen consistently throughout the day or have the tendency to apply sunscreen quantity according to the three-finger rule. Considering the quantity offered by the brand this should last you 15-20 days if not one month. The price of the sunscreen is pretty high for the quantity offered. Those who use sunscreen literally daily might not find this affordable. But keeping in mind the protection it offers for IR, UV rays without causing any acne is commendable.

Dermafique Soleil Defense All Matte SPF 50 Sunscreen Review

I like the fact that Dermafique Soliel sunscreen is powered by full light technology that offers protection from visible light, IR rays and UV rays. This gives it an edge over the traditional sunscreens that offer UV protection. It is suitable for oily and acne-prone skin daily use. The sunscreen is suitable for normal to oily skin according to the brand, however, with the slight lotion consistency, it will be suitable for even dry, normal skin types. The sunscreen doesn’t sweat and makes my skin oily. If you are looking for a good mattifying sunscreen that can protect your skin from the full solar spectrum on a daily basis then give this one a try.
